Platforms and base, oiled — never veneered. It ages the way floors do: better.
Natural sisal
8 mm cord wound tight around the columns. Rough on purpose — that is the point.
Wool felt
5 mm pressed wool on every perch. Warm in winter, cool in summer, quiet always.
The scratch test
Every column is a scratching post — 8 mm sisal wound so tight it thrums. When a sleeve finally gives out, after years, you slide on a new one. The tree stays.
